Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset with Multipoint Technology

For the ultimate in wireless freedom, look no further than the Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset, which represents a generational leap in Bluetooth headset technology. The 510 is comfortable and light enough for all day wear, and it offers unprecedented clarity and sound quality. These are great features, but the real revolution involves Plantronics' exclusive "Multipoint" technology, which allows the headset to function as a powerful communication solution for up to two Bluetooth devices.

With Multipoint technology you can switch between your voice-enabled Bluetooth mobile phone, PDA or laptop. The headset's "smart" technology knows which device you are using and allows you to take calls from any device at the touch of a button. With the optional Plantronics Bluetooth Deskphone Adapter you can even switch between your office phone and your Bluetooth mobile phone. You'll never need to use a dedicated "landline" phone headset again.

The 510 features a noise-canceling microphone for clearer conversations, and it folds for easy storage. The boom also swivels for perfect positioning on either ear. One-touch call control buttons are placed for easy access, and you can easily redial the last number dialed and initiate voice-activated calls from the headset. Because the 510 is Bluetooth-enabled (it supports the Bluetooth 1.2 specification) you can roam up to 33 feet from your Bluetooth device. Meanwhile, the 510 supports adaptive frequency hopping (AFH) which helps avoid interference from wi-fi networks. Ample talk time is provided by the built-in rechargeable battery; you'll get up to 6 hours talk time and up to 100 hours of standby time.

Features of Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset with Multipoint Technology:

  • bluetooth
  • chargers & power adapters

Reviews:

EXCELLENT PRODUCT!Rating: 5
This is the best headset I have ever used. I'm not going to give it the best sound quality I've ever heard, I'll say that's above average though. The noise cancelling works great and the fit is extremely comfortable. There are 3 different earbuds to choose from and this product does not feel as though it is going to fall off as many headsets do.

The multipoint technology on this product is seemless! Allowing me to switch between my laptop and cell phone easier than I would ever imagine. I use this for a tablet pc with speech recognition, and commands work great as well as dictating text.

I have one con for this product... The microphone pickup volume is a little low for dictating text on my laptop, but this may be the case for any headset (I have not tried other headsets with my laptop). Commands still work fine and I probably just need to go through more of the "voice training sessions" on my laptop.

I would highly recommend this product to anyone with a need for multiple bluetooth devices or even just one! And the less than $50 amazon.com price is unbeatable for such a quality device!!
Solid ProductRating: 5
This is a good solid product.

Although I have found the range to be a little limiting I believe this is due to the phone and not the headset. I connected it to my Samsung A920 in less than 3 minutes and have not regretted it at all.

Pros:
1) In ear speaker - Includes an optional earbud which sits in your ear so that even the hard of hearing can use this headset.

2) On ear speaker - Earbud is not required so it can just sit on your ear instead of in it.

3) Stability on ear - This will never fall off your ear - ever. It fits snugly around the entire back of your ear and does not move.

4) Comfort - It is also comfortable, I have worn mine for over two hours and not had any issues.

5) Battery Life - I don't know what the upper bounds of the battery life is, I have never reached it. I hold conference calls on this and have never gotten a low battery warning. However, I do charge it every night. FYI, the phone itself runs dead with BT enabled after 2-3 hours.

6) Clarity - Most people cannot tell I am on a headset. There are no clarity concerns at all in a normal setting. This is in a car with the windows closed or outside in a moderate breeze.

7) Talk button - Easy to find and use.

Cons:
1) volume buttons are in a bizarre place at the top of the ear. I still have a hard time finding them and end up pressing random spots on my ear to locate it. However, I have found that once I found my ideal volume I have had to adjust it very seldom.

2) Mute/Power button - Its a bad design to make these the same button. It is also in front of the volume buttons in a recessed design so it is nearly impossible to locate.

3) Alerts - the headset is constantly giving me audible signals to warn me of an imcoming call, a disconnected call, loss of signal and reconnection of signal. At times I felt like it was singing to me.

As I mentioned I does lose signal every once in a while but only when the phone is in my pocket instead of out in the open. I do believe that is a design flaw of my phone. It loses connection with my PC often as well.

Overall, highly recommend. The pros far outweigh the cons and though it has a few quirks I agree with the reviewers that it is one of the best on the market.

Comfy, but tons of wind noiseRating: 4
This headset is hands-down the most comfortable style out there, and works well in quiet or moderately noisy environments. However, the Windsmart feature is practically useless in my experience. The slightest breeze causes noise for the person on the other end of the line, and driving windows-down is just about useless. Bummer. I think I'll try some foam over the mic when I'm driving, and see if that helps.
