Motorola V180 Phone (Unlocked)

Wireless/Mobile Phone Accesory/Cellular Phone Accessories

In the style-conscious world of cell phone users, the Motorola V180 stands out not only for its elegant look but also for its collection of popular, people-friendly features. Among its most fashionable are the ability to display photos of friends or family (though it can't actually take them) and then send them wirelessly to any e-mail address, downloadable games that help kill time during slow days, a built-in speakerphone, MP3-formatted ringtones that play clips of real music, and a bright 128 x 128 color display. It's even possible to synchronize your date book and phonebook via a USB accessory cable, thus keeping you connected with up-to-the-minute schedule changes. And when making a call just won't suffice, the phone hooks you up to AOL instant messaging, which helps you stay in the know while on the go. And, of course, the V180 invites you to personalize the clamshell case with interchangeable front and back covers that can match anything from your mood to your outfit.

The MP3 ringtone format is a particular favorite. Simply connect the phone to an Internet-equipped computer via a USB cable, download your favorite songs, and then customize the phone to play different tunes for different friends. You can set the V180 to play Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" when your bandmates call and Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues" when the relatives ring. You'll know who's calling before you even pick up the phone. Additional features include a short message service that sends and receives messages with sounds, pictures and animation; preloaded and downloadable wallpapers and screensavers; a built-in microbrowser that accesses directions, stock quotes, and airline information; and such basics as call forwarding, call waiting, and Turbo Dial using the 2 through 9 keys. The phone comes with a power supply/charger and carries a one-year warranty.

Reviews:

Motorola V180 - Very Good Basic PhoneRating: 5
My V180 is through Cingular - I never have a dropped call and reception is excellent. Long Battery life, very easy menus/wayfinding and small size. No frills like MP3 player or camera however - just a very good phone.
Not worth its priceRating: 1
I had to change 4 phones in one year with cingular. Not worth its money
Dependable phone for basic useRating: 4
I've had this phone for a year and a half with no problems. It is good for making calls which is really all I ask for from a phone. It is easy enough to use that I even bought one for my elderly parents and they've had no problems. My carrier is Cingular and I've had excellent service in the NY tri-state area and because it is a quad-band phone, I've also been able to use it while roaming internationally. Battery life is just okay (not as good as my old Nokia)...I have to recharge every other day with normal use. Overall, it's lasted me long enough that I would call it a good value.
