Verizon V3c Razr fixesRating: 3
All

I had the same problems with my phone. I thought the Razr was cool but after found out that alot of features were disabled I became rather unhappy with Verizon of doing this to the phone. Verizon gets a big thumbs down from me for this.

You can fix alot of the problems that Verizon Razr customers have issues with. You can make it ring and vibrate. You can make it so you can load all your songs and wallpapers on. You can also turn off those annoying side buttons. I just got finished doing the ring/vibrate, and the mod so you can load your own files (music and wallpaper). You have to get the USB cable for your phone, the motorola phone tools program, the newest version of motorola PST, and the newest version of PST Seem. You can use all of this stuff to make the necessary changes to the Verison seems in your phone to enable these features and many more that I have not tried. But for around 15 dollars and a few hours time to figure everything else out you can make all the changes to your phone that you wish. I got my cable and cd off of e-bay but you can get it from your local verizon store. All the other software you need is on the internet. If anybody needs help getting their stuff hooked up and talking shoot me an e-mail and I will be glad to help all I can. (bhansen2000@verizon.net)
A Little Let DownRating: 3
I've had this phone 3 months now. I waited for months for it to come out on Verizon and feel a little let down. It looks cool, fits in my pocket easily, and I like the solid metal feel.

There are many MANY little problems with it however.

The most annoying thing is the touchy side buttons that are exposed when the phone is closed. I wish I could break them off. I keep my phone in my pocket, I hate having it on my belt, and it's always changing ringers, turning off the ring etc. Locking the buttons by pressing clr * seems to lock EVERYTHING on the keypad inside as well, which is annoying, you have to unlock it to use it everytime (is there a way to just lock the silly side buttons?). I can't figure out why there are even buttons on the side, they are useless for me. To change the ringer you can just open it up and use the menu.

Another problem is I constantly have to move this phone around on my ear when I get a call to get it just right so I can hear (it takes a few seconds), while my caller is saying "hello? hello?". In otherwords it's very picky about being positioned just right. 1/4 inch or less off from right on and the volume drops in half or more.

I also miss the "vibrate then ring" feature from my Startac. I like the phone to vibrate first, then ring if I don't feel it vibrate for some reason. It doesn't seem to be on this phone, it's either vibrate or ring. Seems like the most useful ring feature is missing. Why?!!!

I often dial my wife's number. I can't figure out how to dial the last number I dialed again with one button press, there probably is a way (on my Startac there was simply a redial button), but I don't know it. Have to dig out the manual someday.

Speaking of buttons these buttons really suck. They should press more assuredly, be soft rubber instead of smooth metal, so your finger doesn't slide. It just seems like they are hard to use, and it's easy if you have big fingers to miss-press because they actually do not press in very far so you can be sure you are pressing the right one.

The phone gets finger prints easy, but I don't care much.

This phone is a slippery little sucker and hard to get out of your pocket and easy to drop. Instead of the silly side buttons it should have grooved rubber grips all along the sides, so you can grab it and have it stick in your hand. You especially need the grips because it is so thin.

Oh, and thanks a lot Verizon for crippling it so I can't make my own ringtones or wallpapers and take them straight off my computer.

I still like the Razr, and reccomend it. But I am frustrated by all these little bad things about it that seem so obviously troublesome that I don't know why they were not changed before the phone was ever released.
Not-So-RAZR-Sharp After AllRating: 1
(I originally wrote this for the black Cingular version of this phone, but since they're all the same, I want to put everyone on notice how terrible this phone is, irrespective of color and wireless network provider.)

I don't mind if no one agrees with me on this, but the fact is, this phone is overrated. Not only does it make its owner seem more "ritzy," which I utterly despise about it, it also doesn't make life easier for its users. It's supposed to be the "next big thing" in phones, but it's nothing but a big disappointment, if you ask me.

I've not even had the phone for twelve hours, and the main problem I have with it is that I cannot seem to get the "Next Call Only" caller ID to change to something like "All Calls," if possible. What is the point in having only your next call show your caller ID? I don't see the point in that because, more often than not, private calls are disregarded by those who receive them. I almost didn't get a hold of two of my friends within a few hours of each other because my ID didn't show up. What was Motorola thinking?

I'm going to take this phone to the Cingular Store tomorrow. If there's no way around it, then I'm sorry to say that I have to keep this one-star rating up and published. If there is a solution to the problem, then I may reconsider. All in all, it's still a hassle, and the RAZR is just another status-symbol item for people to display to others. I was happy with my old, outdated Nokia I-never-knew-what-model-number, and supposedly this was an "upgrade" of that phone. Upgrade my [you know what].
I love my pretty pink girly phoneRating: 4
I've had my pink Razr for two weeks and really haven't had any problems, other than one incident where the bluetooth absolutely refused to release the phone until I walked sixty feet away from it. Other than that, great little phone. I like the keypad a lot, much better than my previous phone's teeny little buttons. I've had no trouble accessing the Internet, downloading ringtones or performing any of the functions. I'm not sure where all the negative reviews are coming from unless they shipped some defective phones. And it's pretty, too!
If only the reception was better...Rating: 3
I was very anxious to get this phone- it's sleek, fun, and pink! After it arrived, I had nothing but connection problems. It dropped 98% of my calls, which my Samsung (with an external antenna) has NEVER done! I called Verizon Customer Service and was told since I live so close to several cell towers, that this was an unusual problem and that it must be the phone I received. I spent four hours between two Verizon stores getting an exchange (new for new) and as soon as I got home, it dropped the first call I made and 98% of the ones I have made/received since.

I did grow to really like the phone itself (features, design, function) over the past few days, but alas it will not work if it drops all of my calls. I'll be returning it to Verizon to get a phone with better reception!
Good phone, crippled software by VerizonRating: 4
I just extended my contract with Verizon Wireless because I was happy with their coverage and reception. Out of the box, the phone looks very sharp. The gunmetal is better than the colors offered by the GSM carriers.

It took a little modifying, but you have to change the S/W from Verizon to Alltel and you should be able to get all the full functionality of the V3c. Definitely recommended if you are halfway technically savvy.

Very cool phone.
Be Very Very CarefulRating: 2
My brother made me get this phone.
It broke within 3 days because they made the front of the phone out of glass.
If you do get this phone and put it in your pocket, make sure that the front part of the phone is facing you.

Otherwise you'll take away the few things that the Razr has going for it...size and appearance. Because you'll have to put a bulky cover on it.

So be very very careful.

2 new pink Razr phones = lots of technical problems!!!Rating: 1
I used to have an LG camera phone which worked great (loved the swiveling camera lens). However, this Razr was cute, pink and I fell hook, line & sinker. I purchased one in March 2006 from a Verizon Wireless store, so it wasn't a used one or anything. First thing - one day the screen went black, yet the power was still on. It was like having your computer on, but the monitor off. I took it in to the store, and the customer service rep told me he had never seen anything like that happen before. They gave me a brand new one on the spot. This was almost a month to the day after I purchased it. Problems since: the clock will occasionally hang up (holding the time of the last call instead of giving you the correct time. No way to fix this since setting the time is done through the towers, not the phone itself); not acknowledging one-touch dialing - screen will remain the same -it just won't call the number; also dialing the wrong speed dial if you have more than one number for the same person (ie - if Ashley work is 13 and cell is 14, when I hit 13# 'send' to call her work, then it calls her cell, even though it had highlighted the correct number). Also, another annoyance is that there are no ports for a headset, so it's bluetooth or nothing (bluetooth is more complicated than a headset - more expensive, requires charging, etc.). Like I said, these phones have been a big pain, and after less than 3 months, I'm probably going to switch back to my old reliable LG phone. I just wish I hadn't wasted the money on this one!!!
Great form factor, Bluetooth problems, functionality crippled by VerizonRating: 2
Sexiest form factor in the business. For that reason alone, I like the phone.

But... I've had problems with the phone losing connection to Bluetooth headsets, both a Motorola headset and a third-party headset. Not sure if it's a Motorola problem or if it's caused by Verizon's crippling of other USB and Bluetooth functionality (another significant annoyance that's amply discussed elsewhere), but it definitely seems to be the phone and not the headset.

If I had it to do over again, I'd be tempted to try the same phone from a different provider.
Form over functionRating: 1
I really expected to love this phone. And if I only had to admire it from an aesthetic point of voice, I would love it.

Too bad the phone actually needs to be functional.

Here, in a nutshell, are the reasons I will never again be seduced by a form-over-function phone:

1. Missed calls. The phone won't ring and vibrate at the same time. I can't tell you how many calls I've missed because I had the phone on audible ring and the surrounding area was noisy.

2. Missed calls. The most aggravating feature of this phone is that it will spontaneously change itself to silent mode. The problem? Those two little buttons on the exterior side of the phone. They change the ring mode. And they're sensitive enough that if you leave the phone in your pants pocket, that they'll change mode on you when jiggling around in your pocket.

3. Navigation. The Motorola software is a mess -- difficult to figure out, plus slow.

4. Address book and calendar sync. If you want to transfer your address book to the phone or sync the calendar, be prepared to invest several hours and at least $50. Motorola doesn't include *any* software to sync or transfer your address book.

All in all, this phone is a thing of beauty -- if you don't mind wasting time and missing calls.
Be pink!Rating: 4
I had my doubts with this phone before I bought it. Particularly with the no-exterior antennae thing. However, I've had no difficulty at all getting reception with this phone. I happened to be in a limo with a wedding party and two other people had razrs trying to make calls. Alas, they had cingular and their calls were dropped. But not mine! ;)

The things that aren't so great about the phone? Dumb ringtones....but with the ability to download one, I didn't care too much. Also, the ok button is tiny and kinda hard to push. There are not as many customising features as I've been used to on other phones, such as being able to change your background colors, etc.

I've dropped my phone a few times already on my hardwood floors (by accident!), and it seems sturdy. Although I wouldn't recommend dropping it on purpose! At least when its closed, its sturdy.

All in all, I've been happy with the phone.
VIBRATE AND RING PLEASE!Rating: 3
I love this phone. I didn't pay full price for it (don't). I love the color, and the reception so far is better than my LG phone. It also doesn't make the annoying high pitched buzing tone my LG did. The battery life could be better, but it hasn't died on me yet.

I really wish I could make mine vibrate and ring at the same time. People say you can, but I don't know how. Please, if you know how, email me at Actress99@aol.com. PLEASE!
If it's a toy phone you want, try Mattel®, they make better ones.Rating: 1
I went to the mobile phone booth at the mall, they had a number of different phones on display, Nokia are getting excellent reviews, but I really wanted to try a Motorola this time around, they had a RAZR there on display, it had a broken screen - HAHAHAHAHAHA, what a great selling ploy.

I have seen countless trendy-type people, you know the kind, drive the B'mers, act like they are better than the rest of us, well they are telling me that the RAZR is ..."OK", in other words they don't want to admit they went with the "trend" and have discovered it is a piece-of-junk.

Everyone makes mistakes, Motorola wanted to design a stylish, thin-mint phone to fit in a shirt or suit pocket descreetly, and it does, and in fact that's where you'll get the best performance out of this phone - in your pocket, protected from being broken.

Do yourself a favor, get a "real" Motorola phone (V360 for example) and get a Bluetooth earpiece (HS810) and you will be miles ahead of the RAZR.

I love it and its Pink!Rating: 5
I had a samsung and didn't want to give it up but I dropped it! ooops. I bought the Motorola Razor and I absolutely love this phone! And it's Pink, cause I'm a girl!

The voice dialing has improved and is now software controlled instead of your own voice. It is more acurate and uses a one touch button on the side of the phone. I'm a lazy dialer so talking to my phone to dial out is fabulous.

This phone is so thin it fits in my wallet which is great when I don't want to take along my purse.

Way to go Motorola!
