Motorola C343

Wireless/Mobile Phone/Cell Phone
Motorola C343
Rated 1.0 out of 5

With style to spare, the Motorola C343 delivers a vibrant color screen, ringer ID functions, a big address book, polyphonic ringtones, and much more. It's all wrapped up in a sleek, compact handset that makes it easy to stay in touch. It's also the perfect complement to Tracfone prepaid wireless service.

Design
The C343 follows the tried and true Motorola candybar style with an external antenna. The 96 x 64 color display supports 4,096 colors, and a standard hands-free headphone jack is also provided. There's also a USB port for data connectivity, while most of the phone's features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset's control pad. Changeable faceplates are available, too, so you can dress up your C343 to suit your style.

Calling Features
The C343's built-in address book can store up to 500 contacts for quick and easy management of phone numbers and other contact information. The phone also comes with built-in polyphonic ringtones (20 of them!), and there's even a built-in composer so you can fashion your own ringtones. And when you have your ringtones set to your liking, you can assign different ones to your contacts so you can know who's calling without having to look at the phone. A vibrate mode is available, too, for times when you want to keep things discreet. The phone ships with a number of handy Tracfone services, including free voice mail, free caller ID, and free call waiting. And perhaps most importantly, the integrated TracFone Airtime Balance Display shows you how much airtime you've used and how much is left, so you can control your costs.

Messaging and Tools
The C343 covers the messaging basics with support for sending and receiving messages that contain text and graphics. iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit-- a plus for mobile text messaging users.

A number of handy tools come with the C343 including a calculator with currency converter, a calendar, text messaging templates for quick messages, and a notepad.

Entertainment
In addition to offering customizable ringtones, wallpapers, and screensavers, the C343 ships with games to keep you entertained while you're on the go.

The Motorola C343 weighs 3.84 ounces and measures 4.29 x 1.74 x 1.0 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 2.67 hours of digital talk time, and up to 190 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the GSM 850/1900 frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

Just hope that your phone never quits workingRating: 1
I had been very happy with my Motorola phone until the battery started losing its charge within a day, even when the phone was turned off. The friendly but incompetent customer support kept me on the phone for an average of 40 minutes for the repeated calls trying to figure out the problem. After the phone had finally been sent to their technical service center, they returned it to me that the phone was irreperable "due to customer abuse." I have done nothing to that phone that could have caused any damage (unless using it to make phone calls counts as "customer abuse"), but got the same comment, without explanation after I had sent the phone in for a second time for reevaluation. It seems that Motorola is just trying to get out of fixing or replacing the phone free of charge under warranty. You'll be fine with a Motorola phone as long as it works. After that, you're on your own.

My tracfone has worked out good so far. Customer service is fine and the free voicemail was easy to set up and use. If you decide to get a tracfone, please email me for a quick referral before activating it- we each will get 120 free minutes from the 'refer a friend' program. I'll also send you the simple instructions to follow. I've used Tracfone for quite a while, so i should be able to answer any questions you might have.
ps even if you have activated in the last few weeks i should be able to get us the free minutes.
