Jabra JX-10 Bluetooth Headset

Wireless/Mobile Phone Accesory/Cellular Phone Accessories
Jabra JX-10 Bluetooth Headset

Function meets the ultimate in style with the Jabra JX10 Bluetooth headset. Featuring a design by world-renowned Danish designer Jacob Jensen, a host of powerful features, and a diminutive size that screams "wear me all day," the JX10 is sure to find a place in your mobile device entourage.

The sleek, compact design makes the Jabra JX10 among the smallest and lightest headsets available. Weighing in at less than one-third of an ounce, and under an inch and a half long, you'll barely feel you're wearing it. The headset fits securely in either ear and it can be worn with or without the included earhook. Automatic volume control via DSP technology means that sound level and quality are matched to suit the environment you're in. The technology also significantly reduces background noise.

Pairing the JX10 with your Bluetooth phone is a breeze, thanks to the headset's one-tough pairing button. Intuitive, fingertip controls let you answer and end calls, or adjust the volume, while a multi-colored LED informs you of Bluetooth, battery level, and charging status. When used with a compatible phone, the headset also supports voice dialing, last-number redial, call reject, call hold, and call waiting. The JX10 supports the Bluetooth 1.2 specification.

With six hours of talk time and 200 hours of standby time, the JX10 is engineered to last through a busy day. When you're ready to recharge it, slip it into the elegant recharging cradle. And when you're on the go, you can also charge from your laptop via an included USB cable.

Reviews:

Wow, but....Rating: 3
There are many things I can say to start off this review, but to answer the question that many of you may be asking as you're reading this is, "Is this product worth buying?" Simply put, it depends.

What I mean by that is, it depends on what you're looking for in a bluetooth headset. The first word that comes to mind when I first saw this piece was "Wow!" There's no other way to describe just how small this is. I almost imagine this being one of the headsets you'd see in an early James Bond film, but this is for real. I even took off the ear loop, and it sits comfortably in my "ear hole". (I must have the perfect "ear hole" size, as it doesn't slip out, either).

However, if you're looking for function over mere form, this over-promises a bit and under-delivers. I'm sure the DSP function works better than not having it, but I can't seem to get over this constant "hissing" sound. It's not the connection either, as the phone is right next to the headset. Because of this "hissing," it makes the caller on the other end sound very distant, and doesn't allow you to feel like you can have an intimate conversation with them.

Also, I'm not sure if the battery on my phone is simply dying out, but it seems like it drains the battery life out of the phone very quickly. Now, mind you, I've been using a bt headset for over 2 years, and it hasn't seemed to make that much of a difference before. I'll have to use this a bit more before I can make that determination.

Speaking of the bt headset I've used before, I had the BT200 and the BT250, and have had no complains of either of those (well, battery life on the BT200, which is why I moved to the BT250). In terms of comfort, there isn't another headset out that's more comfortable. Sound quality is clear and with little interference, and overall an great value. In comparison to the JX10, it out matches in almost every category.

So why did I purchase this, you may ask? Quite simply, it was the Wow factor. For as comfortable as the BT250 was, it was a bit of an eye sore, especially compared to many new products coming out.

If they can get the "hissing" sound fixed, this would be best one out. I'm wondering when the Plantronics Discovery 645 with DSP comes out, what that will be like. I like the fact that it uses mini-USB to charge the unit, as that also charges my phone (moto razr, as I would only need to carry around one cord when traveling). I just think that the JX10 looks better....

So for now, I'm keeping both, and when I need comfort and sound quality, I'll stick with the BT250. When I'm looking to impress, I'll have this one...

edit: Having used this a bit more, and getting feedback from other people while using both the JX10 and the BT250 on the same call, the people on the other line have said that there is a 10 fold difference in sound quality of the JX10 over the BT250. So, apparently the JX10 sounds better to the other user, while the BT250 sounds better on your end. I guess overall, it's better for the other person, so, I'm sticking with the JX10.
It's slick but you still sound like you're in a tunnel.Rating: 4
I just spent the last month trialing 6 different bluetooth headsets. I'm a frequnt business travler & heavy user. My phone is a Treo 700w.

On with the review....

Pros:

*Pairing it took only seconds, very easy process.
*It work better than, with my phone, the other 5 headsets. Meaning when I hit the send button it was on.....when the phone received an incoming call it was on. Extremely responsive.
*Very comfortable, I wore the headset for several hours for 3 days without any complaints.
*Excellent incoming sound both volume & quality. The sound quality was as good as the phone internal speaker.
*Battery - I never ran it down but charged it each day. I typically talk 3 to 4 hours per day.
*Minimal "static" I could wear the headset in my holster without any issues.
*It would work up to the 10 meter mark but the static would pick up significantly.

Con's:

*The outgoing sound wasn't much better then most. I was told that I sounded like I'm talking....."in a tunnel" & "on a headset"

So as you can tell the positives outweigh the negatives. It's a good headset but not for business use.

I like new. I like small electronics. I love new AND small. I've been looking at this Jabra JX10 ever since it was first released and finally went and got one. Nice packaging, attractive charger, simple set up. I'm enjoying the sound quality. I've had no issues where I had to speak louder than usual for the person on the other end to hear me. I hear people loud and clear and I like the volume control.
It is more comfy than the Jabra BT150 that I've used for quite some time. I appreciate the difference in weight.
But I'll be honest. If this ear piece didn't look so slick and cool, I'd never have spent this much money on it. It is a beautiful piece of equipment!
I don't have any negatives to say about this headset, so if you want to spend the money for a quality Bluetooth headset, this is as good as any to lay down the change for.
