Cardo Systems scala-500 Bluetooth Headset - Clear

Take your Bluetooth headset experience to new heights with the thoughtfully designed scala-500. The unit comes equipped with all the high-end features and functionalities you would expect from a leading headset, with the addition of revolutionary technology that is designed to cut wind noise.

Easy to wear around your neck or on your belt. Take a closer look.

An ear-clip and an exclusive eye/sunglasses clip come with the scala-500. Take a closer look.
Equipped with the WindGuard solution, the scala-500 overcomes wind interference significantly better than does any other Bluetooth headset on the market. Whether you're walking the sidewalks of a busy city, or biking or hiking on a windy day, you will appreciate this addition.

Click on the demos below to listen to a comparison between headset performance without and with the WindGuard technology (at a wind speed of 9 mph):

WindGuard and the scala-500

At a hair more than half an ounce, the sleek and stylish scala-500 is one of the smallest and lightest devices available, but it still offers up to nine hours of talk time. An integrated speaker booster provides substantially higher volume capacity than is common with other headsets. Plus, echo-canceling technology alleviates those annoying voice feedback loops that are common with lesser headsets. An exchangeable ear-loop and eye/sunglasses attachment lets you place the headset where it's most convenient, while handy controls on the device allow you to voice dial, as well as to answer, mute, reject, and transfer calls. A charging cradle ships with the scala-500, offering fast recharging of the headset's internal battery. A carry sleeve is included as well, letting you carry the scala-500 on your belt or around your neck. And last but not least, the scala-500 is Bluetooth 1.2 compliant.

After reading a few of the reviews, I was very excited about getting this item at the low price. I have experienced lower than reported distance. While approximately 30ft is reported, I can walk about 10-15ft away before experiencing static and then losing the signal. After a few weeks the earpiece began to experience inconsistent connections when making and receiving phone calls. After about 6 weeks with the product, connectivity has stopped completely. While the earpiece does come on, connectivity with my phone has been limited at best. On a positive note, set up for the earpiece was pretty easy.
So Versatile!Rating: 5
It doesn't matter whether I wear my contacts or my glasses, or if I decide to alternate between them. in a matter of seconds, I'm all set up. The changeable clips are the best thing since cotton candy!
What a great headset!Rating: 5
After doing a ton of research, I discovered the Scala-500. My one big thing that I was looking for in a bluetooth headset was battery life/talk time. Seeing as how this unit had the longest talk time (of a rechargable headset), the wind cancellation technology, a fairly cool design and a decent price, I decided to try it. I am more than happy with everything about it! It mated with my Razr effortlessly and not only is it comfortable and lightweight, but it has so far surpassed any of the rated talk times! My longest use time to date is 13 hours!!!! Yup, 13 hours! That is four phone battery swaps for anyone wondering! LOL! Also for those wondering, my girlfriend and I arent able to spend much time in person, so we take full advantage of Tmobiles free cell to cell minutes! That being why I wanted the extended talk times....ok, back to the headset....the only complaint I have had so far is that every once in awhile the headset drops connection for no appearant reason. No big though, it reconnects fairly quickly. I would imagine that to be an annoyance for a professional, but not for the casual user. The only other trouble I have had is that I keep forgetting that I am not connected to the phone via a cord anymore, so I find myself leaving my phone here and there and only discovering its not in my pocket till AFTER I am out of range! LOL! Speaking of range, this headset allows me to wander all over my house without any loss of recepetion. That is way more than the 30 foot range that is advertised....and this past weekend I had a chance to try out the anti-wind technology. My kids and I went to the ocean and were flying kites on the beach in fairly high wind conditions. I tried my phone with the corded headset and couldnt be heard. Then I tried with just the handset with much better results, but still had to keep the wind at my back to be heard. When I tried the Scala, there was a VERY noticable difference! When the wind was at my back, my girlfriend said there was almost no wind noise what so ever. Only when I turned into a full gust of wind did she say that was when it got a little hard to hear, but was way better than anything before! TOO COOL!!!! Okay, to make this long story a little shorter, I love this headset and would recommend it to anyone!
